Scoping Review Highlights Need for Treatments Addressing Youth Opioid UseStephanie Nairn (PhD candidate and research coordinator), Marion Audet (PhD student and research assistant) and the EHT research team from across Canada are delighted to share the results of a scoping review published on May 9th, 2022 in the Canadian Journal of Psychiatry. The new open access scoping review article from our CRISM national youth-focused project, showed that research on treatment for youth and young adults remains sparse and we need more focus on interventions that address the unique social contexts of use for this population, including treatments that focus on women/females and gender diverse youth. There is a need for greater understanding of the factors that promote retention of young people in treatment, more programs that assess continued safer use within a paradigm of harm reduction, programs that focus on the prevention of opioid use and treatment evaluation that seeks to understand how youth succeed in these programs.[Read More]Alicia Latkovski-Hamilton2022-05-13T09:00:38-04:00May 12, 2022|News|
