Dr. Conrod’s research on screen time and teen mental health was recently featured on CTV News. Social media has been linked to increased risk for eating disorder and depression symptoms through lasting effects on youth self-esteem.  This research highlights how social media platforms promote unrealistic social norms that teens try to live up to. Dr. Conrod recommends talking to young people about the biased nature of content that they are exposed to on social media platforms.
